Books your accountant will actually accept
Send the invoice, take the payment by card or link, and the receipt, the ledger, the sales-tax summary and the profit & loss are already done. Real double-entry underneath — journal entries and a trial balance that always balances — with plain screens on top.
Accounting is included in Standard Plan and up.
From quote to profit & loss
You do the business. The books follow by themselves.
Every document posts its own entries — nobody re-types an invoice into a ledger, and nobody closes the month by hunting for a missing receipt.
Sales tax for the places you actually sell
Choose the United States as your country and the books follow American conventions: a January financial year, MM/DD/YYYY dates and dollars. Set your state and local sales-tax rates once; every invoice shows each rate on its own line, and the tax summary adds them up for filing.
- State and local rates, taxable and non-taxable items
- Tax summary by rate for any period
- Invoice series you control — INV-2026-0001
Journal entries and a trial balance that always balances
Payment, receipt, journal and transfer entries that check themselves before they save. A chart of accounts you can extend, ledger pages that drill down to the document, and a day book you filter by kind. A mistake is reversed, never deleted — so the history your accountant reads is the history that happened.
- Every entry balances or is refused
- Ledger account pages with opening balance and period filters
- Reverse, don't delete — issued documents are never rewritten
Know who owes you — and send them their statement
Receivables and payables aging by bucket, the customers furthest behind at the top, and a statement of account for any one of them as a page, a PDF or an email from your own mail account — with every invoice, receipt and credit note and the running balance.
- Pay against an invoice, in part or in full
- Statements with opening balance and period
- Payables — which suppliers you owe, and how overdue
Purchases that post to stock or expense, as they should
Record what suppliers bill you with the scan attached, pay it in full or in part, and raise debit notes for what goes back. Bills for tracked items go into stock at cost; every sale takes them out — so the margin you see is the margin you made.
- Vendor payments with their own receipt
- Perpetual stock across as many stores as you keep
- Buy by the box, sell by the piece — units and packs
Get paid the way your customers want to pay
Payment links through Stripe, PayPal, Square, Adyen, Authorize.Net or Helcim, and card terminals from Square, Stripe Terminal, SumUp, Verifone, Ingenico and PAX. Money lands in your own merchant account; the receipt is raised and posted for you.
- Balance checked before the card is charged
- One open charge per bill — no double charging
- Cashier tills with expected vs counted cash

Questions about accounting
Can my bookkeeper or accountant work with it?
Yes. The books are real double-entry with journal entries, ledger pages and a trial balance. Give them a login with access to accounts only, or send the profit & loss, aging and ledger PDFs.
Does it file my sales tax returns?
No. It records tax on every invoice by rate and gives you a summary for any period, which is what you or your accountant file from.
Can I use my existing Stripe or Square account?
Yes. Connect your own merchant account — money goes straight to you, and Filantis records what arrived, raises the receipt and posts it.
What if an invoice was wrong?
Issue a credit note, or reverse the entry. Issued documents are never silently edited, so the numbered series stays complete and the audit trail stays true.
Do I need the accounting module for a free plan?
The free plan covers the phone system and contacts. Accounting is included in Standard Plan and up — see the pricing page for what each plan includes.
