Ways to run it
Rent Filantis, or own it outright
One product, built once. Where it runs is a deployment decision, not a different piece of software with a different feature list — so the interface, the settings and the numbers come with you if you move between them.
Hosted by us
Nothing to install and nothing to rack. Pick a plan, point your numbers at us, and put phones on desks — a cloud system can be taking calls the same afternoon. Your organisation gets its own tables, its own SIP realm and its own credentials, not a shared table with a customer column in it.

- The plan ladder applies here — you buy simultaneous calls, and features arrive as you move up.
- We run the machine. Updates, backups, certificates and the operating system are ours to worry about.
- A free plan to start on, and moving up or down takes effect immediately.
Best when
- You do not want to own or patch a server.
- Staff work from several places, or from home.
- You would rather a predictable monthly bill than a purchase.
- You want to be running this week, not next month.
The appliance
A dedicated unit for your comms cabinet, bought once. It arrives working: plug it into the network, open the interface, and set up your extensions. Firmware is installed to a second slot and the unit falls back to the version that worked if an update goes wrong — so the box does not need somebody who knows Linux standing next to it.
One-off purchase · no monthly licence · quoted with the hardware
- Every feature is included. Plans are a property of the hosted platform, not of the software — there is no ladder on a box you own.
- Recordings, voicemail and call records stay in the building, on a disk you can see.
- Signed updates, applied by you, from the interface — with a database snapshot taken before anything changes.
- The machine's own controls: health, network, backup, factory reset and support bundles are pages in the interface.
Best when
- An auditor, a regulator or a client asks where the recordings are.
- You would rather buy a thing than rent one.
- The office has poor or expensive internet.
- Nobody on site wants to administer a Linux server.
Office server
The same software, installed onto a standard Ubuntu server in your own rack or your own virtual machine. For the businesses that already run their own infrastructure and would rather this lived beside everything else than in somebody else's cloud.
One-off purchase · runs on hardware you already have
- Every feature is included, exactly as on the appliance — no plans, no per-user licences.
- Backups are yours to take and yours to keep — the machine is in your rack, so the schedule and the copies are decided by you.
- Your firewall rules, edited in the interface and enforced by the machine itself.
- We can still look after it if you would rather — updates can be pushed by us to a machine you own.
Best when
- You already run servers and have somebody who looks after them.
- Data has to stay on your premises or in your own tenancy.
- You want the option of virtualising it alongside everything else.
Dedicated cloud
A private cloud instance running only your phone system: cloud convenience without sharing a platform with anybody else, sized to you and grown when the business is. An uptime commitment can be part of the agreement here, which it is not on the standard plans.
Enterprise · sized and quoted
- Nobody else's calls on your machine — the resources are yours, all of them.
- Your own region, where that matters for law or for latency.
- Every feature included, as on the hardware editions.
- Note the exception: a dedicated instance is reserved for you the moment it is created, so it is the one thing we do not refund. Try a shared plan first.
Best when
- Your size or your rules mean a shared platform is not an option.
- You need a contractual uptime commitment.
- You want it in a particular country, on a particular provider.
The four, side by side
The software is identical in every column. What changes is whose machine it runs on, and everything that follows from that.
| Cloud | Appliance | Office server | Dedicated cloud | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| How you pay | Subscription, monthly or yearly | One-off, with the hardware | One-off | Quoted — request one |
| Feature plans | Yes — you buy simultaneous calls | None. Everything included | None. Everything included | None. Everything included |
| Where recordings and call data live | Our platform | In your building | In your building, or your own cloud tenancy | Your own instance, in your chosen region |
| Who applies updates | We do | You, one button — with automatic fallback | You, one button — or we push them | Us, or you, by agreement |
| Who runs the backups | We do | You do, on your own machine | You do, on your own machine | By agreement |
| Uptime commitment | Monitored, not contractual | Your network, your power | Your network, your power | Available in the agreement |
| Time to running | The same day | Once the unit arrives | An install session | Days, with the sizing agreed first |
| Your numbers and handsets | Identical in all four: standard SIP trunks from any carrier, standard handsets from any manufacturer. Nothing here decides who you buy minutes or phones from. | |||
Starting in one and moving to another
This is the ordinary path, not an exception: prove it works on the free cloud plan while the business is small, and buy the box when keeping the data in the building starts to matter.
The same interface
Moving between editions is a migration, not a retraining exercise. The pages, the settings and the words on them are the same ones your staff already know.
The same numbers
Your numbers live with your carrier and are pointed at whichever system is answering them. Changing edition is a change at the trunk, not a port.
The same data
Extensions, departments, contacts, prompts and call history come across. Nobody re-types forty extensions because the machine changed.
Not sure which one you want?
Tell us roughly how many people you have, how many calls run at once, and whether the data has to stay in the building. We will tell you which of the four fits — or that we are not the right fit, if that is the honest answer.
